The annual Plan for Arunachal Pradesh was finalised at Rs 3,200 crore for 2011-12 at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the State Chief Minister, Mr Jarbom Gamlin, here on Monday.

Mr Ahluwalia complimented the State for its performance and said that its social sector indicators had improved. Appreciable effort has been made to involve private sector in development of infrastructure, he added.

He said the State should encourage private participation in modernisation of IT and transport sectors.

Infrastructure

He said the Commission was concerned about inadequate infrastructure in the North-Eastern states and was keen to expedite development of infrastructure particularly road network in the State.

He said the 12th Plan would continue to have focus on infrastructure development in the North-East.

Briefing the Commission on the development strategy, the Mr Gamlin said infrastructure development, both social and physical, were being given priority and efforts were on to encourage public-private partnership.
