The Asian School of Business (ASB) here has joined hands with a central European university and a Government-run management institution in Poland.
The aim is to groom young managers for tomorrow by giving a global exposure, according to Prof S. Rajeev, Director.
GLOBAL EXPOSURE
“We have an ongoing relationship with the Kansas University School of Business (KUSB) which has initiated an India Study Abroad Programme.
“The collaborative strategy, which will enhance students' exposure to global business environment, is now being extended to a management institution in Poland and the university in central Europe,” he added.
The ASB has initiated discussions with institutions in South Korea.
As part of the collaborative programme, students of ASB will get a chance to study abroad and interact with foreign students.
They would also learn under international faculty, develop overseas business networks and become global managers in the process.
JOINT RESEARCH
This will also open avenues for joint research, consulting assignments and doctoral programmes for ASB students.
“This is an opportunity to become entrepreneurs with global outlook and acquire management skills to run international enterprises, besides paving way for collaborations among companies globally in future,” said Prof K. Balakrishnan, Dean, ASB.
Under the agreement signed with the Polish Government-run Instytut Organizachi Zarzadzania W Przemysle of Warsaw, ASB will help create modern management structures in the Polish economy through mutual exchange of knowledge and skills.
AMERICANS VISIT
ASB is also in discussions with a university in central Europe to collaborate across different areas, Prof Balakrishnan said.
Since last year, American students and faculty have started visiting ASB campus for study and teaching and the feedback has been quite encouraging.
This has also facilitated the visit of ASB faculty and students to Kansas to learn from each other on managing global companies and enterprises.
During their stay in India, the first batch of Kansas students attended regular classroom sessions delivered by ASB and KUSB faculties. They also visited business units in different sectors, learned the working of NGOs and gained exposure to various aspects of Indian life and culture.
NEXT BATCH
The next batch of Kansas students will be visiting ASB shortly.
Encouraged by the collaborative effort, KUSB organised an International Business Week-India in Kansas in September and invited ASB to provide the resource persons.
Besides Prof Balakrishnan, Member of ASB Governing Board, and Mr G. Vijaya Raghavan, founder Chief Executive Officer of Technopark-Thiruvananthapuram, also addressed groups of students and Kansas-based companies on business prospects in India.
“We also opened discussions with a business incubator in Kansas about possibilities of collaboration with ASB and Indian business,” Prof Balakrishnan said.
