The West Bengal government on Friday announced that the tripartite agreement for the formation of the Darjeeling Hill Authority will be signed with the Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha (GJMM) and the Centre on July 18.
The Darjeeling Hill Authority is an autonomous body carved out of the hilly regions of Darjeeling, Kurseong and parts of Jalpaiguri.
The Union Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, is expected to be present on the occasion.
According to West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, the tripartite agreement will be signed at Sukhna within the jurisdiction of the Darjeeling district located at the foothills of the Himalayas.
