The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) has decided to recommend to President Pranab Mukherjee to convene the Budget session on January 31. This is in accordance to the Centre’s decision to advance the Budget presentation by about a month.
While the President will address both the Houses on the first day, the Union Budget will be presented on February 1. The Economic Survey will be tabled on January 31. The first phase of the Budget Session will end on February 9.
Though the dates of the second lap have not been decided, it is expected to be over by March 31 so that the entire exercise is over before the next financial year begins.
The CCPA’s meeting was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
