Reintroduction of Kissan Vikas Patrika is not only expected to bring cheer among small savers but the agents selling the instrument as well.
Says Shobana, a small savings agent at the Head Post Office in Coimbatore, "This instrument used to be in demand. I used to get at least 8 to 10 customers every day. The investments would range between Rs 5000 and Rs 10,000. Small investors found the scheme attractive as their investments would double in six years."
"Investment in post office savings scheme has taken a beating in recent years and with it, the agent's commission has also started to slide. The reintroduction of KVP is therefore a welcome step," said this small savings agent.
