The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) has welcomed the Railway Budget and called it practical and people friendly.
According to P Roy, Director General, The Bengal Chamber, the Budget has not made any unrealistic promise. Instead it focuses on safety, efficiency, and modernization.
Upward freight revision in case of urea, LPG, kerosene, iron and steel, cement and coal is likely to have much impact on the industry, he feels.
The Budget, Roy said, is constructive and focuses on clearing up 300-odd pending projects and increase freight capacity to 1.5 billion tonnes and passenger capacity from 21 million to 31 million.
