With Finance Minister Arun Jaitley raising the stake on infrastructure building to an all-time high, infra equipment makers are anticipating a fresh boost to the growth momentum.
“The current government has been focussed on infrastructure building from the word go. This Budget will take the growth momentum forward,” Sumit Mazumdar, CMD of TIL Ltd and past president of CII, told BusinessLine . He is particularly happy with the focus on rural infrastructure.
Sandeep Singh, MD of Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery, sees much of the company’s future growth coming from the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna-III rollout as promised in the Budget.
He is also hopeful that the planned rise in MSP for crops will incentivise farmers to focus on irrigation infrastructure like connecting their land to the canal network or desilting water bodies — this in turn will boost demand for small earth-moving equipment
Manish Agarwal, Partner and Leader, Infrastructure, PwC India, said that with national highways construction exceeding 9,000 km in the current fiscal, there is substantial focus on project implementation.
