The consumer durables sector in India plays an important role in steering the economic growth of the nation.
Generating intensive employment opportunities and contributing more than 5.5 per cent to the IIP, this industry accounts for more than 40 per cent of consumer spending in India.
Thus, the industry seeks for a Budget that enhances the sector and also backs a healthy growth of the economy.
With the implementation of GST, we are looking forward to a Budget that can help the economy grow further. We are hopeful once GST comes into force it will give a boost to the manufacturing sector that will further push the economy.
We are expecting the upcoming Budget to address and offer additional benefits to encourage alternative ways to carry out transactions in order to bring an upsurge in the purchase of goods.
Further, with government initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India and Startup India, not only an ecosystem of Electronic System Design and Manufacturing will be created but this will also increase employment opportunities for the masses, especially for women.
In today’s dynamic environment, creating a truly comprehensive digital economy is the need of the hour.
Consumers need to understand the opportunities provided by digitisation so that we can benefit from it in the future. With increasing smartphone usage, we are confident that it will bring better outcomes for the growth of the Indian economy and steer it towards a remarkable future.
The industry expectation is a long-term and stable policy with concessional duty treatment. And to establish manpower who are technically efficient, I feel that perseverance powered by government initiatives will pave the way towards the founding of a strong manufacturing base.
