While announcing measures to strengthen the health infrastructure, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has made the much-needed announcement on eradicating a number of diseases (filarial, leprosy, measles, tuberculosis) in a time-bound manner. This shows the commitment of the government to addressing the scourge of the same, said Sangita Reddy, JMD, Apollo Hospitals Group. The enhanced allocation to and focus on 14 lakh angandwadis as the epicentre to enhance child and maternal health and well being is a move in the right direction.
Amendments in the rules for reducing cost of life-saving drugs are positive. We will have to wait and see how the duty reductions will help reduce the cost of imports of medical equipment. Our Bureau
