The Cabinet is expected to soon take up the proposal to implement pay revision for executives and non-unionised supervisors of 18 sick PSUs that have the potential to be revived.
The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) has submitted a proposal to the Cabinet for revising salaries in 18 sick Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).
“The Cabinet will soon take up the proposal to allow 1997 pay scales to the executives and non-unionised supervisors of 18 sick CPSEs who are either following 1987 or 1992 scales of pay,” an official told PTI.
He, however said, this proposal could be implemented only in the case which has the potential to be revived.
At present, the executives and non-unionised supervisors of these CPSEs get wages based either on 1987 or 1992 pay scales which are too low. Their counterparts in profit-making PSUs get pay and allowances based on the 2007 scale.
“Thus, Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE) had recommended to the DPE for wage revision in these loss-making units,” the official said.
Of the 260 CPSEs, about 66 were sick units including Hindustan Cables, HMT Watches and ITI Ltd, as on March 31, 2012.
The BRPSE, which was set up in 2004, is an advisory body to the government on revival and restructuring of sick PSUs.
