The Chairman, Tata Realty and Infrastructure, Mr R. Krishna Kumar, and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sanjay G Ubale, were questioned here by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
Both the Tata Realty officials were said to have been questioned with regard to the alleged Rs 1,600 crore loan extended to Unitech in 2008. Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd (TRIL) is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Tata Sons and serves as a real estate and infrastructure development arm.
Earlier this month, the investigative agency questioned top officials of a number of companies including Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), Unitech, Loop and S-Tel.
The Comptroller and Auditor General has said that the 2G spectrum allocation scam is said to have led to a presumptive loss of around Rs 1,76,000 crore to the exchequer. The CBI in its FIR has alleged that the loss to exchequer was to the tune of Rs 22,000 crore.
