A CBI team today inspected the mining areas of three companies at Antharangammakonda in the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border, said a top official.
The team headed by CBI DIG, Mr B.V. Lakshminarayana, inspected the mining areas of The Hind Mining, TNR Mining and Obulapuram Mining Corporation, owned by the Karnataka Tourism Minister, Mr G. Janardhana Reddy.
Mr Lakshminarayna told reporters that from the evidence the agency had gathered it was clear that OMC was involved in illegal mining in this region.
During the inspection, it verified records on state boundary, boundary leased to these companies and also whether forest areas have been encroached.
The OMC Managing Director, Mr Srinivasa Reddy, has been co-operating with the CBI investigations, which will continue for three more days, said Mr Lakshminarayna.
The team had earlier visited the mining areas on January 11.
