There is a need for innovation in cement industry to bring in new processes and technologies, according to Mr M.R. Muthiah, President, Cement Manufacturers’ Association.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the 8th Green Cementech 2012 here on Thursday, Mr Muthiah said new technologies were required to achieve higher energy efficiency.
“Focus on sustainability is the need of the hour today,’’ he said.
The primary focus of the industry has been moving from production to sustainability and energy efficiency.
“Some of our plants are now comparable with the best in the world in all aspects,’’ he said.
The two-day meet is being organised jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry and CMA.
