The centre is studying industry proposals for alternatives to reverse e-bids to award renewable energy projects.
“There are various pros and cons to it. We are currently examining the reverse auction vis-à-vis the conventional bidding and the e-bid. Both are transparent. There has been a demand for the conventional transparent bidding and we are trying to find out from the experts which is the better,” Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Anand Kumar said at an event to mark the global wind day organised by the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association.
Kumar said that he has received representations from the renewable energy industry to revert to the conventional closed envelope bidding system instead of continuing with reverse auctions for e-bidding.
He said that IIM Lucknow has been engaged to prepare a study and propose the way ahead.
