As part of its efforts to bring the intellectual property rights (IPR) and design a step closure, the Confederation of Indian Industry in association with National Institute of Design (NID) hosted a one-day awareness programme on Industrial Design Registration and Protection here.
Organised by NID and CII, the programme was sponsored by the office of the Controller General Patents, Designs and Trademarks.
Mr M.S.A. Kumar, Past Chairman, CII and Managing Director, AVT Natural Products Ltd, inaugurated the programme. Mr Anil Sinha, Chairman, Industry Programmes and Projects of National Institute of Design; Prof Bhavin Kothari, who is heading the Intellectual Property Rights Cell at National Institute of Design, spoke on the Introduction and Demystification of IP understanding. The programme was intended to enable industry persons, design professional and innovators to gain a comprehensive introduction to fundamental areas of intellectual property (IP). The programme was in specific reference to registration and protection of Industrial designs under the Designs Act.
Ms Swapna Sundar CEO, IP Dome, addressed on IP Regimes for Designers, Innovators in Knowledge Economy and Infringement and important legal issues in protecting industrial design. Mr Praveen Daniel spoke on the simplified process and examination of Industrial Design Application and Registration. Mr Manu T, Designer spoke on the ignorance and importance of industrial designs protection for designers and innovators.
