Monnet Power Company won the Utkal-C coal block in Odisha for a bid price of Rs 770 a tonne on Monday.
The block reserved for the power sector has 123.86 million tonne of extractable reserves and was previously owned by Utkal Coal Ltd. Auctioning for the block shifted to forward bidding after hitting zero in initial reverse bid stage.
The other block on offer on Monday is Lohari in Jharkhand which has 9.045 million tonne of extractable reserves. The block is kept for the non-power sector.
Ambuja Cements, Jaypee Cement and GMR emerged as the winners in the on going coal block auctions for the ready-to-produce blocks on Sunday.
