Awards for five coal blocks from the ready-to-produce category have been put on hold by the Ministry for Coal due to the low bids that these blocks went for.
This is while the Government is already re-examining three blocks from the producing category. An Inter Ministerial Committee’s report has been submitted and a decision is expected to come soon.
The five blocks from the ready-to-produce category that will now be re-examined were won by Hindalco Industries, Jindal Power, Jaypee Cement, Usha Martin and Trimula Industries.
The blocks are Tara, Brinda & Sasai, Meral, Dumri and Mandla South. Tara was reserved for the power sector.
