Coal blocks review: IMG to meet today

The Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) reviewing 29 coal blocks would again meet on Wednesday to decide on de-allocation and en-cashing bank guarantees. The panel headed by Additional Secretary at Coal Ministry Zohra Chatterji would discuss each case after the mine owners updated their status last week. According to sources, 10 blocks have not shown ‘satisfactory progress.’ The panel is expected to submit its recommendations by September 15. It is to be seen whether the IMG would be able to meet its deadline.
