The Commerce and Industry Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, on Thursday met industry representatives to discuss issues stifling growth and expressed concerns over the economy.
Improving imports, competitiveness of some sectors, increasing foreign direct investments and concerns over foreign trade agreements were some of the top issues discussed.
“We had a detailed discussion on industry. We tried to understand the situation on investments and industry’s mind on what is happening in the Indian economy and what the states and the Centre can do to improve the situation,” she told reporters after the meeting.
