The combined index of eight core industries rose 4.7 per cent in October 2017 on the back of higher refinery and coal production. [ The combined index grew 6.6 per cent in October 2016. ]
An official statement said, coal production increased by 3.9 per cent in October 2017 while crude oil refinery production grew by 7.5 per cent during the period under consideration.
The natural gas production increased by 2.8 per cent, fertilizer production was up 3 per cent, steel production up 8.4 per cent and electricity generation up by 2.1 per cent during October 2017 compared to October 2016.
The was a 0.4 per cent dip in crude oil production and a 2.7 per cent decline in cement production during the month under consideration
