FICCI has appointed A. Didar Singh as its Secretary General with effect from November 1, 2012. Rajiv Kumar, erstwhile Secretary General, would lay down office on October 23, 2012.
Didar Singh, aged 61, is a former Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and a former civil servant of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
Singh obtained a Bachelors and Masters from St. Stephens College, Delhi University and a Masters in Development Administration from Birmingham University, UK.
He has the distinction of having done the first PhD in India on the Policy and Administration of e-Commerce.
