Welcoming the Special Court’s dismissal of petition against Mr P. Chidambaram in the 2G case, the Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, today described it as a relief for the Government.
“It is a good judgment. It is a relief for the Government. Someone was being unnecessarily prosecuted. I welcome the judgment,” Mr Mukherjee told reporters during a visit to the Indian Statistical Institute.
He pointed out that in its judgment the Supreme Court also referred that the then finance minister’s (Chidambaram) advice was not listened to.
Earlier in the day, a Delhi court dismissed a petition by Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy seeking to make Mr Chidambaram a co-accused in the 2G spectrum case.
