The domestic passenger car sales grew by 3.90 per cent last financial year (2014-15) when the industry sold 26.01 lakh units.
The industry sold 25.03 lakh cars during previous financial year (2013-14), the latest data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), said.
In the two-wheelers segment, the industry sold a total of 1.60 crore units during the year, up eight per cent as compared with 1.48 crore units in the previous year.
While the motorcycles sales grew by 2.50 per cent at 1.07 crore units as against 1.04 crore units in 2013-14.
Scooter sales were up 25 per cent at 45.05 lakh units during 2014-15 against 36.02 lakh units in the previous fiscal year.
Similarly, sales of medium and heavy vehicles and three-wheelers also grew by 16 per cent and 11 per cent year-on-year (YoY) respectively.
However, sales of total commercial vehicles' sales were down three per cent YoY, the SIAM report said.
Overall, the grand total of all vehicles' sales grew by 7.22 per cent at 19.75 crore units during 2014-15 as compared with 18.42 crore units in 2013-14.
