Public broadcaster Doordarshan on Wednesday said that it has tied up with YouTube to live stream the Indian Independence Day celebrations and Prime Minister’s address to the nation for 2013.
The live stream will be available on August 15 from 6:25 a.m. onward. Users will also be able to see the highlight clips from the Independence Day celebrations.
In a statement, Tripurari Sharan, Director General, Doordarshan, said, "We are delighted to associate with YouTube to share the Independence Day celebrations with Indians across the globe. Streaming Independence Day celebration live on YouTube will help us to reach the global audience in a format which best suits today’s generation."
Gautam Anand, Director Content Partnerships, YouTube, added," This is the first time we’re live streaming India’s Independence Day Celebrations and we hope that our users will enjoy the telecast wherever they’re in the world."
