The Finance Ministry has extended the validity of anti-dumping duty on phosphoric acid imports from China by one year.
The existing anti-dumping duty will be valid until September 2, 2013, the Revenue Department has said.
This revenue department move follows the recommendation of the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry in its sunset review initiation earlier this month.
Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd and Punjab Chemicals and Crop Protection Ltd had filed the petition seeking sunset review of anti-dumping duty on phosphoric acid imports—technical grade and food grade--from China.
Phosphoric acid is used in the production of sodium phosphate, calcium phosphate, magnesium phosphate and ammonium phosphate.
It is also used in pharmaceutical applications, beverages, sugar juice and sugar refining besides seed processing.
