The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) received remittances worth Rs 5,962 crore in July, around Rs 229 crore higher than the average receipts in April-July 2013.
The retirement fund body, whose July performance was recently reviewed by the Central Provident Fund Commissioner, K.K. Jalan, said the number of contributing members has crossed four crore as on August 17. Similarly, the number of establishments contributing and filing returns electronically has gone up to four lakh, it said in a statement here on Friday.
Close to 11 lakh claims were settled during the month, over 98 per cent of which were settled within 30 days, it said. Also, after activation of the Internet-enabled grievance management system, 96 per cent of complaints registered through the portal had been disposed.
Recovery from defaulting establishments also improved, the EPFO said, adding that Rs 39.48 crore has been realised in July, which was around Rs 9 crore more than the average in April-June.
