The court today sentenced Bangaru Laxman to four years in jail in the 2001 fictitious arms deal case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the former BJP President.
Mr Bangaru Laxman was taken into judicial custody for serving the sentence.
The CBI had sought maximum punishment of five years. The 72-year-old Mr Bangaru had sought leniency on health grounds. He said he has undergone bypass surgery twice and is a first time offender.
