With taxpayers still settling down under the goods and services tax regime, the government has now decided to extend the deadline for submitting GSTR Return Form 3B for the month of July.
Accordingly, for taxpayers who do not wish to claim transitional input tax credit, the deadline is now August 25 while for those who will seek credit, the deadline for submitting the GSTR 3B is August 28.
Earlier, the last date for filing the return was August 20.
"There have been requests from States which are hit with floods to extend the last date for filing of GST Returns. The State of Jammu & Kashmir has also requested for extension of time because of late passing of their GST Ordinance," said the Finance Ministry on Saturday, adding that the extension has also been given due to some technical glitches experienced by last minute return filers.
