Food inflation eased marginally to dip below the 10 per cent mark in end-August, with onions, fruits and poultry items showing signs of moderation in price levels.
The annual WPI-based food inflation estimate for the week ended August 27 was 9.55 per cent, slightly lower than the annual rise of 10.05 per cent reported in the previous week, according to data released on Thursday. The dip was despite items such as cereals, pulses and potatoes showing an increase in the year-on-year inflation levels.
Fuels surged 12.55 per cent during the latest reported week, the same level of increase recorded in the previous week.
