The Government on Friday launched a scheme offering portability for LPG connections.
This means if a customer is not satisfied with his present distributor, he has the choice to shift his connection to another dealer.
The pilot project has been launched in Chandigarh on Friday, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M. Veerappa Moily told mediapersons.
The three public sector oil marketing companies — IOC, BPCL and HPCL — targets to launch the service in 25 districts in 2013-14, Moily said.
In the second phase, the Government may offer portability between different companies. This means an Indane customer would be able to change his connection to HP Gas or Bharat Gas.
'Lakshya' project
At the same time, the Government launched 'Lakshya' project where the customers are given online choice to refill booking, register complaints and rate distributors, among others. Customers can also access these facilities through mobile devices.
The rating of distributors would help to increase competition among dealers, said R.S. Butola, Chairman, Indian Oil.
