n what could be seen as a sign of some relief, Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Veerappa Moily on Friday informed the Lok Sabha that the Government was looking into the representations received to revise the cap on subsidised domestic LPG.
But, whether the Government will finally relent and extend the cap on subsidised domestic cylinders for each household from the current six to nine annually remains to be seen.
On September 13, the Government had decided to restrict the supply of subsidised domestic LPG to each consumer at six annually.
According to the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs’ decision, the price of cylinders beyond the cap of six a year would be at the market rate to be notified by the public sector oil marketing companies on a monthly basis.
As on November 1, the retail selling price of domestic subsidised LPG in Delhi is Rs 410.50 per 14.2 kg cylinder, non-subsidised cylinder was available at Rs 738 per cylinder.
