The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is hosting an official business delegation from the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) in Dubai.
The delegation, which was headed by the SGCCI President, Mr Ajoy Bhattacharya, is on a visit to Dubai on a special invitation extended by the Dubai Chamber to explore new areas of economic cooperation between the two chambers, a statement released on Thursday said.
The two sides also discussed investment opportunities and future collaborative opportunities between Dubai and Gujarat.
The Dubai Chamber’s Director General, Mr Hamad Buamim, said the focus is on strengthening bilateral investment relations between the two cities.
He added that the Dubai Chamber and SGCCI look forward to turn the strong commercial ties into a full partnership and explore new areas of cooperation, especially in promising industries.
The Dubai Chamber organised special tours of the JAFZA and Dubai Multi-Commodities Centre for the delegates to familiarise them with the investment opportunities available in the areas of textiles, food processing and precious stones in a free zone set up.
He highlighted the importance of Dubai as a major re-export hub offering access to over two billion consumers in the region, as well as easy linkages to Africa and Europe.
The Director General of the Chamber also stressed that India is the No. 1 trading partner of Dubai, pointing out that the number of Indian companies operating in Dubai and registered with the Dubai Chamber has reached 20,400.
The delegates said the city promises a fertile ground for investors from Gujarat to explore and expand their global operations through the Emirate. They also emphasised on the importance of businesses from the two cities working together more closely in the future.
