The Finance Ministry has claimed that Qualified Foreign Investors (QFIs) in the Gulf were looking to invest for the medium and long term in India.
However, they are seeking some clarity before putting in their money.
According to the Economic Affairs Secretary, Mr R. Gopalan, during the roadshows in the Gulf, the QFIs clearly said, “Give us confidence to increase the allocation in India.”
They desired easy exit and entry, stability in policy and also lower tax.
A lot of wealth funds, private equity funds besides others, participated in the roadshows.
The Finance Ministry currently conducting roadshows in five West Asian countries – Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.
These roadshows are being organised to invite QFIs, who can be individual foreign nationals, associations or trusts. They can invest in equity, mutual funds or bonds.
