Twenty-one of the 27 industry sectors registered expansion in online recruitment activity in the year to February this year, employment search and facilitation organisation Monster has said.
Manufacturing sector (down 10 per cent) showed steepest annual decline, while Shipping Marine sector (up 59 per cent) followed by media & entertainment sector (up 41 per cent) exhibited the highest annual growth among sectors monitored by Monster.
The Monster Employment Index during the period between February 2012 and February 2013 showed that though online demand for employment improved in 10 of 13 occupational groups, the demand in the senior management segment was down 51 per cent. This was the steepest annual decline among occupation groups, said Monster on Friday.
According to the index, among major metro-areas, Kolkata (up 36 percent) and Chennai (up 31 percent) registered the highest annual growth in employment. The Monster Employment Index India is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity based on a real-time review of millions of job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career web sites and online job listings across the country.
