Beating the slowdown, 58 top companies hired over 624 chartered accountants during campus placements at an average annual remuneration of Rs 7.36 lakh, the highest package being Rs 24.64 lakh offered to three students.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the statutory body for regulation of chartered accountants in the country, held its second campus placement programme for the current year across 16 cities of the country recently.
Despite an economic slump, the recruiters included leading companies such as ITC, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Alghanim Industries, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Wipro Ltd., Madura Fashion and Life Style, and Marriott Hotels India Pvt. Ltd.
The highest compensation of Rs 24.64 lakh a year was offered to three students by Al Ghanim Industries for international posting, Subodh Kumar Agrawal, President, ICAI said here on Tuesday. The minimum salary offered was Rs 4 lakh.
“We organise such recruitment programmes twice a year for budding chartered accountants to give them a headstart in their careers in the areas of taxation and finance,” he said.
More than 100 interview teams from these 58 companies participated during the recruitment in the campus placement programme held in August-September, 2013. The companies represented almost all the sectors of Indian economy including information technology, financial services, oil & gas refining, banking, BPO, telecommunication, mining, FMCG, and agro. The best response was received from the IT sector.
