Factory output grew 5 per cent in February this year on the back of strong show in manufacturing and mining sectors, official data released on Friday showed.
This latest IIP print is good news for the Modi-led Government which is looking to reboot the economy and take it to a higher growth trajectory.
While manufacturing grew 5.2 per cent (-3.9 per cent), mining grew 2.5 per cent (2.3 per cent) for the month under review.
For the April-February 2015 period, IIP grew 2.8 per cent (-0.1 per cent) In February last year, IIP had contracted 2 per cent as manufacturing declined 3.9 per cent in that month.
