The International Monetary Fund Managing Director, Ms Christine Lagarde, will visit New Delhi on March 19-20 to meet senior Government officials here.
During her two-day visit, Ms Lagarde will participate in a high-level conference on China-India. This conference "China and India: Sustaining High-Quality Growth" is co-hosted by the IMF and will be inaugurated by the Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee. Ms Lagarde will participate in the closing roundtable discussion.
The two-day conference (March 19-20) will bring together policy makers, leading academics, and private sector representatives and provide an opportunity to discuss the growth successes of China and India, which are Asia’s engines of growth.
This event is part of the strengthened ongoing engagement between the IMF and Asia. It is also one of a series of high-level events in the region ahead of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in October this year.
