Income inequality is stark in both India and China, but the economic liberalisation appears to have benefited the middle-income group in China more than in India, according to various reports published by economists such as Thomas Piketty, Lucas Chancel and others associated with the World Ineqality Lab. The bottom 50% continues to fare equally badly in both countries.
