India has a stable and predictable tax regime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a high-power business delegation that arrived in India today with French President Francois Hollande, who is this year’s Republic Day chief guest.
“Whatever was there in the past is a thing of past. This government is taking all efforts to ensure that this remains so in the future,” Modi said at the India-France Business Summit. Prior to the summit, during a closed-door meeting of industry stalwarts from both sides, French business leaders expressed concern over the delay in the Goods and Services Tax and imposition of non-tariff barriers.
In his speech, Hollande asserted that the need of the hour is to “keep our borders and cities safe.” At their bilateral meeting on Monday, Modi and Hollande will discuss these and other issues.
