India Inc is enthused by Pakistan's intent to move towards a small negative list approach by this month-end which would eventually lead to MFN status for India by the year-end.

The Indian business delegation, led by Mr Rajan B. Mittal of Bharti Enterprises, met the Pakistan Prime Minister, Mr Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, and expressed its resolve to build trade relations between the two countries on a durable basis.

Business forum

The delegation urged the setting up of a business forum of Pakistan and India to facilitate business activities on efficient and meaningful grounds.

Mr Mittal told newspersons that it is a positive move and that they will look at the Pakistani market with renewed interest.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's House, “there was an enabling environment prevailing between the two countries to promote trade, people to people contact and also exchange of high-level visits of Parliamentarians to espouse the cause of meaningful and productive contacts.”

The members of the Indian delegation maintained that there was an environment and momentum to enhance trade between two countries and leave a worthwhile legacy for coming generations.

Other members of delegation included Mr Harshpati Singhania , Mr B Muthuraman ,Mr Sudhir jalan, Mr. Naresh Goyal and Mr Sunil Kant Munjal.
