“The lack of availability of skilled labour is really, really at a premium today. We need skilled labours and this is a serious fact. If we do not produce skilled labourers, it is going to kill our groups badly..”, Larsen and Toubro, Wholetime Director and Senior Executive, Vice-President (Construction), Mr S N Subrahmanyan said.
He was Addressing the 175th AGM of industry body Madras Chamber of Commerce. “We should step on the gas (to ensure students coming out from colleges are adequately skilled)”, he said.
Stating India lacks in infrastructure facilities, he said, “We need to develop better highways connecting cities and towns. They are arteries of our country.”
Besides, he observed there was a need to develop infrastructure outside the metros and tier-I cities.
Referring to the shortage of power, he said, “the entire IT industry will come into a grinding halt, if you do not produce (adequate) power”.
