The Centre may find the going tough in meeting the indirect tax revenue target for the current fiscal going by the collections up to December.
For April-December 2014, indirect tax collections grew 6.7 per cent to ₹3.78 lakh crore (against ₹3.54 lakh crore in April-December 2013), official data released on Tuesday said.
This reflects 60.6 per cent of the indirect taxes target for 2014-15.
While customs collections grew 9.5 per cent to ₹1.38 lakh crore (against ₹1.26 lakh crore), excise collections for the period under review grew 1.69 per cent to ₹1.20 lakh crore (₹1.18 lakh crore).
For customs, the Centre has so far achieved 68.6 per cent of the Budget estimate while in the case of excise duty it has achieved 58.3 per cent of the Budget estimate.
