While condemning the blast outside the Delhi High Court, the BJP and Left parties sought an explanation from the Government whether there was an intelligence failure.
BJP spokesperson, Mr Ravishankar Prasad, told reporters “Why is the Government not taking action? The incident has happened right in the heart of the capital…There is no security and there is no intelligence beef-up.”
CPI National Secretary, Mr D. Raja, said his party “strongly condemns” the blast and asked the Government to explain why such terror attacks keep happening in the country.
DMK chief, Mr M. Karunanidhi, said that India’s capital “should not remain unprotected’’.
Samajwadi Party chief, Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav, expressed support to the Government in the fight against terror.
Janata Dal (United) leader, Mr Sharad Yadav, expressed concern that the blast had occurred just a kilometre from Parliament, despite all precautions.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah, tweeted and condemned the blast, calling it “mindless violence’’.
Janata Party President, Mr Subramanian Swamy, demanded that the Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, resign in the wake of the incident.
