The Central Bureau of Investigation has asked Mr N. Srinivasan, Managing Director of India Cements and Chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, to appear before it after June 15 in the illegal assets case of Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
According to sources, CBI had also sent similar notices to Dalmia Cements Ltd and Penna Cements.
The investigative agency wanted to question Mr Srinivasan and others in connection with the alleged investments they had made in companies promoted by Mr Reddy including Bharathi Cements in return for “favours” in the allotment of water and mining leases.
CBI had so far filed three chargesheets in the case and also arrested four accused including Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, who is also President of YSR Congress Party.
Meanwhile, India's Cements' scrip declined 4.46 per cent to end at Rs 72.70 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday.
Dalmia Bharat Enterprises Ltd's stock also decreased 1.95 per cent to close at Rs 98.
In a statement, ICL said: “We have received a notice in the context of allocation of water towards expansion of capacity of two of our plants in Andhra Pradesh. Our senior officials have already met officials of department in the past and have submitted all the required information sought by them.''
The company was “confident” that the matter would be resolved at the earliest since water allocation to its units was “as per industrial policy of AP Government”.
