Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will go on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates from November 15 as part of the government’s efforts to drum up investor interest in India.
“One of the main objectives of the Finance Minister’s visit is to meet and apprise the UAE based investors about investment opportunities in various sectors in India including infrastructure, manufacturing, services and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund among others,” said an official release on Friday.
The visit is being seen as a follow-up of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE in August. At that time, the two countries had agreed to set up the UAE-India Infrastructure Investment Fund with the aim of $75 billion to finance core sector projects in India.
Jaitley will be the Chief Guest at the UAE- India Economic Forum Meet in Dubai on November 16. He will also hold meetings with UAE’s Finance Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and take part in a FICCI conference.
On November 17, Jaitley will leave for Abu Dhabi where he will meet investors including Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Investing Authority, as well as senior officials of the International Petroleum Investment Company and Abu Dhabi Investment Council.
He will also meet Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, before returning to India on November 18.
