Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will start the New Year with pre-Budget consultations from Monday.

Jaitley, along with senior Finance Ministry officials, will meet with agriculturists and trade union leaders on January 4 as they begin preparing the Union Budget 2016-17.

“The Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha along with the Finance Secretary and other Secretaries of the Ministry of Finance will also participate in the meeting,” said an official release.

These consultations provide the Centre with comments and inputs from different groups on their requirements for the next Budget.

On January 6, the Finance Minister will hold the two rounds of meetings with economists and industry leaders. This will be followed by separate consultations with IT hardware and software manufacturers on January 7.

He will also meet financial sector regulators on January 11 and then hold separate talks with social sector representatives and banks and financial institutions on January 12.
