Five seafarers were killed in an accident on board LPG tanker “Maharshi Krishnatreya” of Varun Shipping on Monday.
The vessel was sailing from Mangalore to Dubai for dry-docking, said a press release from the Directorate General of Shipping.
The chief officer, gas engineer, and three seamen were engaged in repairing a damaged pipe in the compressor room and were overcome by gas, said the release.
The vessel has been diverted to Porbander in Gujarat.
