The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, is leaving for Tirupathi by flight from here to reach Penukonda, the train accident site, where at least 14 people have reportedly lost their lives.
Bangalore-bound Hampi Express rammed into a goods train at Penugonda in Anantapur district of the state in the early hours on Tuesday.
The district administration was directed to supervise the relief and rehabilitation works.
After monitoring the rescue and relief operations at the site, he will console the injured at Puttaparthi Hospital, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
