The Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr Sadanda Gowda, said the Reach - I of the Namma Metro project between Byappanahalli-Mahatama Gandhi Road is ready for operations.
Addressing the Independence Day gathering, he said he had also requested the Centre to grant approval for the Phase-II of the Metro project.
During his visit to Delhi, Mr Gowda had urged the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to expedite clearances and inaugurate the ‘Namma Metro' project.
Indicating the importance given by the State Government to urban development, Mr Gowda said it has improved basic infrastructure in 211 towns and cities, including Bangalore.
Mr Gowda also said his priority was to implement the programmes already announced, instead of making new announcements.
“Investment of over Rs 5 lakh crore through the Global Investors' Meet, issuing of Bhagyalakshmi bonds to more than 11 lakh girl children of BPL families are some of our Government's achievements,” he added.
Mr Gowda said the Government will hold the first-ever global agri-business meet to woo private investments for agriculture development. “The second Global Investors meet is also on the anvil,” he added.
