Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), run by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), has received the 5-Star rating by the British Safety Council for its Health and Safety Management System. “RGIA is the only Airport in the world to receive the BSC 5-star rating. Outside the aviation industry, only a few organisations in India like Asian Paints, Tata Motors, GAIL, Reliance and L&T have received the award in the last ten years,” S. G. K. Kishore, Chief Executive Officer of GHIAL, said here in a statement on Sunday. “The award criterion is very stringent. There are 995 safety compliance requirements for the Health & Safety Management System, covering 57 elements. In order to get the 5-Star rating, a minimum of 92 per cent has to be obtained out of a total score of 5,000. We scored 96 per cent, he said.
